Placement and installation

While the Sanctuary outdoor saunas are designed for outdoor installation, it is crucial that the location is level and horizontal, and not exposed to heavy rain or flood risk.

The outdoor saunas are splash-proof but not weatherproof. A Clearlight® sauna cover is included free of charge with the purchase of every outdoor sauna.

If you do not use the included cover, your sauna must be placed under a suitable shelter or in a weatherproof building.

When choosing the location for your sauna, please observe the following clearance recommendations. These are important for installation, care, and maintenance.

- The roof overhang increases the sauna's footprint by 21 cm on all sides. (See data sheet for details)
- Allow 5 cm clearance on the sides and back of your sauna.

- Allow 30 cm clearance above the sauna roof.

- Ensure the power outlet is accessible at all times for a hard reset.

Check your sauna's technical specifications for the required amperage.

Since every location is different, it is advisable to contact your sales consultant. They can provide expert advice on selecting the optimal sauna model for your premises.

Depending on the location, a preliminary on-site inspection may also be possible.

Can I put my Clearlight® Sanctuary Outdoor infrared sauna outside?

The Sanctuary Outdoor infrared sauna can be placed outdoors, provided it is protected at all times by the waterproof cover supplied, or placed somewhere sheltered from excessive rain. The reason is that the exterior of the outdoor sauna is splash-proof but not weatherproof. Please note: under international standards the outdoor sauna has an IPX water-resistance rating of 4, "protected against splashing water from any angle".

The outdoor sauna is defined as "outdoor" because its walls are thermally insulated and therefore thicker, for colder climates. A cover is included free with every outdoor sauna purchase, and using the cover is mandatory for all outdoor saunas to keep the warranty valid. If you choose not to use the supplied cover, your infrared sauna must be housed under a weatherproof structure.

What kind of surface should I install the Clearlight® Outdoor Sauna on?

The Sanctuary Outdoor infrared sauna must stand on a firm surface that can carry its weight, with or without people inside. A deck is the ideal base, because the gaps between the boards let moisture escape if rain lands on the deck surface.

If you place the outdoor sauna on a concrete slab, please make sure there is adequate drainage so moisture can run off beneath the floor. The sauna must not be placed on a surface where moisture can collect underneath it. Choose a surface where water drains away, so moisture never pools and seeps into the sauna from below.

What do I need to know about installing the Clearlight® Outdoor infrared sauna?

The 2-person outdoor infrared sauna weighs 350 kg in total. For safety we therefore recommend 3 to 4 people for lifting, holding and the actual installation.

The assembly itself is not difficult. With the outdoor infrared saunas, a level floor is also important so the door can be aligned properly. Check the floor before installation and level it if necessary before installing your Clearlight infrared sauna.

How should the outer roof of the outdoor infrared sauna be installed?

The outer roof of the outdoor infrared sauna is designed so that water drains off the back of the roof. If the roof is not fitted correctly, water collects on top and can damage the sauna.

What type of wood is used for my Clearlight® Outdoor infrared sauna?

The interior of the Clearlight® Outdoor infrared saunas is made of eco-certified (FSC-certified) Canadian cedar. We use the highest-grade timber (grade A) and match the colour of the wood before manufacturing.

The exterior is made of Cedartec® (an engineered wood material) for durability and high quality.

How high are the EMF levels in this Clearlight® infrared sauna?

Electromagnetic radiation and electric fields matter enormously, and not only in infrared saunas! Ten years ago we started producing heaters with the lowest possible EMF levels. Over time we have pioneered this field and can proudly say that our EMF (and ELF) levels are probably the lowest on the market. Measuring directly on the infrared heaters, the highest EMF reading we could find was 1.5 mG, far below the WHO limit of 3 mG. Move just a few centimetres away and the reading drops, quite literally, to 0.

Besides inventing our True Wave II infrared heaters, we also use shielded cables, run several grounding wires and designed the cabin so that exposure to EMF and ELF is as low as possible. Measured on the two powerful full spectrum heaters at the front (Sanctuary and Outdoor cabins only), the maximum reading is 7 to 8 mG. At a distance of just 10 cm the values drop to 0. Since EMF decreases with distance, no EMF is measurable where you sit.

What is the warranty on my Clearlight® Outdoor infrared sauna?

It is lifetime on the interior components and 5 years on the exterior of the cabin. For this warranty to apply, the following condition must be met: your Clearlight® Outdoor infrared sauna is protected from water at all times, either by the supplied cover or by a suitable shelter.

What are the shipping and return terms for my infrared sauna?
